Short Term Scientific Missions

Encouraging institutional exchange visits

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are exchange visits aimed at supporting individual mobility, strengthening existing networks and fostering collaboration between COST Action Participants. STSMs should specifically contribute to the scientific objectives of the COST Action, whilst at the same time allowing the grantees to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data, instruments and/or methods not available in their own institutions/organizations.

STSMs must respect the following criteria:

  • The STSM applicant and the Host institution are in different countries.
  • The minimum duration is 5 days, including travel.
  • There is no maximum duration, but an STSM must be carried out within a single Grant Period and there is a maximum financial support.

Eligibility:

  • The Grant applicant(s) are Action participants with a primary affiliation to a legal entity located in a COST Full or Cooperating Member country, a COST Near Neighbour Country or a European RTD Organisation
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a research program as a postgraduate student or postdoctoral fellow or be officially employed by a public or private institution (i.e., home institution).

EUVEN selection policy promotes gender balance, geographical inclusiveness, and the participation of new members and Young Researchers and Innovators (under the age of 40).
